Asian Art

There are many types of art that Asia is known for around the world. In particular, painting, calligraphy, architecture, and sculpture are some of the most common art forms in Asia. Throughout history, artists and craftsmen have developed these art forms into refined and highly skilled practices. History of Asian Art is a selective survey of the visual arts of India, China, and Japan from prehistory to the present. This course emphasizes the understanding of representative paintings, sculptures, and architectural monuments in their cultural and historical contexts.
